In 2017 I introduced The M-Pulsive Opportunities Fund. It has been formed as a parent led committee running alongside M-Pulsive Dance School a bit like a school PTA. This year a group of competition squad mums have run various events and organised bag packs to raise money for the squads costumes and to help fund our trip to the UDO World Championships which we qualified for in December. In addition to this, funds have also been raised for show costumes which you’ll see at tonight’s production of the Wickedest Wizard of Oz.
Brave, Opium Haze, Tornado, Emerald Townsfolk, Flying Monkeys, Rainbow, Emerald Guards, Clouds
were all fully funded by the Committees funds.
For session 2017-18 I aim to oversee the creation of a fully functioning committee with office bearers and open meetings to continue the work of this year’s parent group. The vision is to continue to fundraise for costumes for events as well as to fund professional visiting workshops to open up enhanced training opportunities for all dancers.
I, Michelle Douglas, will give the set-up of the committee the go ahead, will attend meetings to report on what events and workshops are in the pipeline, and will support fundraising. I will, however, not be organising events. I’d like to see different individuals from within the committee, take on some organisational roles- many hands make light work, as they say! It must be noted that the funds will NOT be directly spent by M-Pulsive Dance School and will not ever go towards the running of said business. Michelle will oversee all fundraising ideas, funding letters and must sign off all marketing, planning and paperwork before ‘M-Pulsive’ branding can be used. The monies will be banked by the committee and I will request the spending to go towards particular events.
All M-Pulsive parents can be members of the committee and are encouraged to get involved in fundraising wherever possible. This is a great way to be able to offer amazing costumes to groups of dancers, get some high end professionals into the studio and continue to support the work that I do in order to provide the kids with new and exciting training and performing opportunities.
