Student Stories…Eliza’s Journey from Danceability to Dance Domination 🌟

Eliza started her journey with M Pulsive by joining the Danceability class. Before this, we had tried numerous different groups and clubs, but we just hadn’t found the right environment for Eliza.

Eliza is autistic and has ADHD, and for her, being part of a group can be incredibly challenging. For many autistic children, the environment around them can make a huge difference to how comfortable and regulated they are, the noise, expectations, structure and social demands of a group can sometimes become overwhelming, making it difficult for them to listen, participate or simply feel that they belong.

Eliza has always been full of energy and personality, but she found it really difficult to engage, listen and follow along in previous groups. Then we found Danceability.

From the very beginning, Michelle was kind, understanding and completely welcoming of Eliza’s personality and individual needs.

There was no expectation for Eliza to change who she was in order to fit in. Instead, she was given the space to be herself.

From choosing the songs, to adding her own “unique” dance moves, Eliza finally found somewhere she belonged.

Her first show with Danceability was absolutely amazing. Honestly, it was something I never thought would be possible. Watching her up on that stage, taking part alongside everyone else, was a moment I will never forget.

As parents, we all want our children to be part of something that makes them feel included, valued and confident. Danceability gave Eliza that.

And now, a few years down the line, it’s incredible to see just how far she has come. Eliza now takes part in Lyrical, Acro and Cirque in the mainstream classes.

The staff know Eliza so well- they understand her personality, her needs, her strengths and the little things that help her thrive. It’s so lovely to watch them support her while also allowing her to grow, challenge herself and become more independent.

From the little girl who struggled to find her place in a group, to the girl confidently taking part in mainstream classes- Danceability has been such a huge part of Eliza’s journey.

And as her mum, I couldn’t be prouder.
