This year with a brand new concept, we are welcoming you into our studios to get involved in our classes to give you an insight into what we get up to week to week. rather than the finished product or quick 10 minutes at the end of class that you usually see, Insight Week will get you immersed into the running of class and see work truly in progress.
This years insight week will be Mon 2nd-7th March
NEED TO KNOW...
One parent per dancer can attend (if you have siblings with you please bring them something to keep the quiety entertained)
Please arrive with your dancer at the start of their class to be welcomed in
Please wear clean shoes and clothes you are comfortable moving in 🤪
Please bring an open mind and the understanding that our teachers are very much out of their comfort zones in this concept and children may not act as they usually do in classes as they’ll all cope with this change in a different way.
We think this will be a really valuable way for you to experience a new style of ‘watching week' and we’re excited to welcome you.
WHAT CLASSES ARE INVOLVED?
We are opening this to all classes with the exception of Cirque. This concept won’t work in that style of class so we will get an end of year watching week arranged similar to last June.
Senior classes… we think one class per age group is sufficient for this end of the school.
S4-5 will welcome you in Tuesday 6.15-7.00pm
S2-3 will welcome you Wednesday 5.30-6.15pm
S1 will welcome you Wednesday 5.30-6.15pm
THINGS TO NOTE...
Although our teachers are, by original training, 'performers', they are not used to performing while teaching. Having an audience in this scenario is daunting and out of their comfot zones. Please be mindful of this.
We also need to appreciate that dancers themselves are not normally on show in this way. A close audience can in fact be more nerve wracking than a stage and they feel less prepared. Please help the dancers feel at ease by getting stuck in
Finally, classes are works in progress- not perfection. They will be learning while you watch. Please don't expect Westend standard perofmances. They will not be showing you finished work- that's saved for showtime 😉
